I bought a bottle of this horn stain to antique a powder horn that I had just bought. I poured a little in a bowl and dampened a cotton cloth and wiped over the horn and let it set a few minutes. The stain is subtle in color change and I repeated the procedure several time till I got the desired shade. It is purple in color but turns brown. Might have permanganate in the recipe. Wear gloves if you don't want brown fingers.

Works great. Turns a hohum horn into a beautiful aged horn.

This horn stain is a great choice for aging a horn. It goes on easily and dries to a nice yellow brown color when used directly out of the bottle. It also seems to stay on the horn much better than other dyes.

This stuff is great! I carved my first powder horn and put a lot of work into it. I wanted to stain it the perfect color and this product delivered! It stained it the exact color I wanted. Very pleased with the results. I highly recommend this horn stain.

I put a lot of effort into this horn with the scrimshaw and all. Was very concerned about ruining it with a poor antiquing job but that was not the case. This product was great! This horn stain went on purple but quickly changed to a nice brown antique look. Doesn't rub off either. This is a lot easier than I expected and the results are super!

Had three horns that were very white but 10 years old. Now they look 150 years old a nice old kind of yellow brown. Love them and this product. Thank you!!

I use this product pretty much exclusively on my horns. Easy to apply and fix any scrapes or scars you might have missed in sanding and scraping.
