The only reason I did not give a Perfect 5 Star review is because of the lock plate. There is a threaded that is somehow attached (pressed, glued, or..??) to the inside of the plate, which is what one of the 2 threaded cross screws holding the lock plate in place. This part separated from the plate when tightening the part in place. The front screw goes into a threaded hole in the plate itself. Why they didn't do this on the rear hole is not clear, but clearly it is not the answer.
I plan on contacting Customer Service, will update, if possible.

Everything fit together well - the rifle looks great. I would suggest you get some buffing tools as some of the brass parts were like they came from the foundry and needed filing, sanding and polishing. I enjoyed putting the kit together and am very pleased with the finished product.

Overall, very happy with it. If I have to pick on something, the bands are not as pronounced at the step as an original. Other than that it will be a great addition to the 1861 Springfield. Needs more stock sanding and filing on the bands than the Springfield. The bands have taken the bluing very nicely. Worth the price! Quality of the metal and wood is real nice.
