Instead of using a scrap of leather, many of the old timers believed the best way to secure the flint was with a lead clamp. The logic was that the lead absorbed more of the shock than leather. They claimed the flint would last longer and never shatter. Who knows? Try it and see for yourself. Packages contain 3 lead clamps. Made in the USA by October Country, a manufacturer of muzzleloading supplies.

It's lead. It fits. That's about all it's supposed to do.

Have not had a chance to try yet but looks like they should go the trick. If not I will add more review.

These are a little harder than most and do not crush as much. First ones I have used that actually work without loosening up all the time.

They are leather, and hold the English flints in very well. Shipped/received fast.

Just what I needed for my family heirloom

Much more secure than my current leather for securing the flint.
I needed to peen it down a bit to fit into the jaw, but it was easily done. The flint did not shift or turn on firing and stayed secure

A bit harder than expected, so it may not be pure lead. Did work as advertised.
