Always consistent. Shoots accurately from my Hawken with 110 grains of ff.

  3. Round ball ammo 4 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd Jan 2021

I used many forms of C&B ammo...most made by the same manufacturer, only to have the distributors name or "Brand" on the box...they're NOT all the same. Some rounds have a "Sprue" cut on the ball that leaves a flat spot on one side, that greatly deminishes the accuracy of the ball.
The ammo i got from October Country rivals the same ammo ive recieved from the company called "Hornady", which have NO SPRUE marks on the ball, perfectly round and smooth, and as good as round ball ammo will ever get. Great deal(50%less) than gun store ammo, and delivered in about 8-10 days.

  4. .715 Round ball review. 4 Star Review

Posted by on 16th Jan 2021

Round balls had to be forced down the barrel of a Pedersoli double barrel percussion 12 gauge. They were possibly over sized, however both barrels shot with no issues. Used 90 gr. Pyrodex, over powder card, 12 gauge shot gun wad (cut down to the base), round ball then another over powder card on top of the round ball. (Not professional advise, it's what I used.)

True to the stated size and no flaws.

  6. USPS couldn't stop the delivery! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 29th Sep 2020

The first shipment was lost by the USPS. I so notified the company and they quickly sent a second shipment which arrived yesterday. The balls are uniform in size with no sprue stem to make loading or display difficult. They compliment the display of my Civil War Cannon (70 cal signal cannon). Thank you.

  7. Great Product at Great Price 5 Star Review

Posted by on 7th Jun 2020

I purchased the .72 caliber for my EIC contract Brown Bess. Hit a 12" plate dead center at 30 yds while proofing the barrel. Sprue is subtle. Not as smooth as Hornady .50 and .58 I have but I prefer results over aesthetics.

Well cast and minimal sprue. Very hard and shoot well.

  9. No Sprue Stem - Excellent! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 18th Feb 2020

I really like these round balls - there is no sprue to effect the spin of the ball. True, there is a faint cutoff spot, but this is far preferable to the actual sprue being out there, going down the barrel, coming out the barrel, and in flight. Much better than other dealers that don't have this "no sprue" feature. Thanks.

  10. Great (and round) lead balls. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd Oct 2019

Very well made and — no obvious flat sprues.

I have a Belgian made reproduction of a 1777 Charleville. It should be .69 caliber, but is actually closer to .67 cal.

I make paper cartridges in much the same way as the French did, and I have found that the .62 caliber lead balls from October Country MEET THAT NEED PERFECTLY.

As long as October Country offers these musket balls, I will be buying them!
